This starter kit allows artists to make their own oil paint from loose earth and mineral pigments and refined walnut oil. By gradually adding oil to each pigment, you control the consistency, texture and colour saturation.
The kit contains ten pigments: Venetian Red, Orange Ochre, Yellow Ochre, Terre Verte, Ultramarine Blue, Ultramarine Purple, Black Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Titanium White and Burnt Umber. Eco-Solve can be used to thin the paint and clean brushes.
Each pigment absorbs a different amount of oil, so there is no universal mixing ratio. Add walnut oil in small amounts and mix until a smooth, thick paste forms. Mix each pigment into paint separately before combining the prepared colours.
Important to know
- This is an artist product for making paint, not children's paint or ready-made tube paint.
- Mixing your own paint takes more time, practice and clean-up than using ready-made oil paint.
- The included walnut oil and Eco-Solve are intended for trying all colours over approximately one or two painting sessions. Additional walnut oil and Eco-Solve are needed to mix all the supplied pigment.
- A palette knife, glass muller, dropper and empty storage jars or tubes are not included.
- Avoid creating or inhaling pigment dust. Work cleanly in a well-ventilated area and use appropriate personal protection.
- Eco-Solve is a plant-based alternative to conventional solvents, but it must still be used according to the label and kept out of reach of children.
- The kit contains walnut oil and is not suitable for anyone with a relevant nut allergy.
- Oil paint dries slowly; drying time varies by pigment, layer thickness and environmental conditions.
- Not intended for children or consumption.
