This individual Natural Earth Paint colour, Brown (Raw Umber), is supplied as a powder. It is made from natural earth and mineral pigments, organic corn starch and gum arabic.
Mix the powder with water. Use less water for creamy, tempera-like paint or add more water for a thinner, transparent paint with a watercolour-like effect. Suitable from age 3 for surfaces including paper, wood, rocks, glass, cork, fabric and appropriately prepared canvas.
Artists and adult creatives also use this children's paint when they want a ready-to-mix, water-thinnable earth colour without preparing pigment and binder from their own recipe. This is children's paint, not professional artist paint.
One packet makes up to approximately 235 ml of paint, depending on the amount of water added. Preferably mix only the amount needed. Mixed paint is best used fresh and can be kept for approximately two weeks in a tightly closed container in the refrigerator.
Important to know
- Earth pigments have their own natural colour character and do not mix in the same way as synthetic primary colours. They will not always produce bright secondary colours.
- The paint is not waterproof. Outdoors it can gradually wear away through rain and exposure. For a lasting finish on wood or toys, apply a suitable finish after drying.
- Not intended for consumption. Limit mouth contact with painted toys.
- For face and body painting, use Natural Face Paint. This children's paint may be drying or irritating during prolonged skin contact.
- Clean with soap and water. Some pigments may stain more strongly, so prompt cleaning is recommended.
